2006 Catalog Summary
As hoped we have heaps more variety this year with seedlings from our breeding programs and other enthusiasts.
We are stoked to offer such variety and thank those that are helping us achieve a good balance.
Our flowering season did not see high flower numbers. I think a lack of cool evenings at the right time. Still we had an impressive display and were particularly happy with a few seedlings. A couple of kingianum seedlings were very outstanding.
The growth season for us was a lot of work with the constant and high heat, hot dry winds and low rainfall but we have all shared this. We fared well though and had a good growth season and did not get too many boiled new canes in those real hot days. Our seedlings were doing it tough in their usual place so a new spot was found and they have thrived since.
We were lucky enough to get a few winners in 2005 at a couple of local shows. Best in variety at the Speciosum Spectacular with Den. speciosum var. speciosum (Amy x Windermere) ‘Jessie’ - heavy texture, wide segments, great shape, cream/white, an excellent clone.
Best any other species at the Speciosum Spectacular with Den. kingianum (Ruby x Grace B) - a high quality early purple. At the Camden Haven O.S. Spring Show we took Best Native Hybrid or Species and Best Specimen with Den. (Hilda Poxon x suffusum) x speciosum.
Hope you like what is on offer and don’t forget if you are up this way, give us a ring and pop in.
